What is a Pendulum?

Customizable Pendulums

Pendulums are a powerful and ancient divination tool. They have been used to access inner wisdom and knowledge and to gain insight into the unknown for centuries. A pendulum is an object suspended from a fixed point that swings back and forth due to the force of gravity. The swinging of the pendulum is believed to be able to answer questions about the future, as well as provide guidance and healing. Pendulums have been used for divination, dowsing, healing, and meditation; they have even been used to make simple choices like choosing the right fruit. They are incredibly versatile, and can be used in a variety of ways to answer questions, gain clarity.

While any pendulum can be used for divination, certain natural healing stones make the best pendulums.  Pendulums can be made of many materials such as glass, stones, crystals, wood, metal, nails, and even the pendant on your necklace. Almost anything can be used as a pendulum; as long as you program it, it can be suspended from your hand and swing freely.

How to Use a Pendulum

The use of a pendulum is simple and can be done in a few easy steps.

1. First, calm and center yourself and your environment. Select the material you would like to use for your pendulum.

2. Next, tie a piece of string or thread to the object and tie the other end to a ring or other object that will be used to hold the pendulum. Or use your pendulum purchased right here on Ankhsemble.com

3. Cleanse, give thanks for, bless, and set your intentions into the pendulum.

4. Calm and center yourself again. Hold the ring or object in your hand, with the pendulum hanging freely.

5. Gently force the pendulum to swing to the clockwise or counterclockwise direction of your choice once, and then allow the pendulum to swing on its own (for each direction).

6. As the pendulum swings to the desired direction, say aloud, “Pendulum, this means YES”. Or, “Pendulum, this means NO”. Say the aforementioned as the pendulum swings in that desired direction. EX. If you want clockwise to mean YES, program the clockwise swing to YES. And vice versa

7. Repeat this programming 3x for each direction

8. Test your pendulum by asking it a measureable (yes or no) question. “Pendulum, is my shirt red?”

9. If the pendulum is not programmed, repeat steps 4-8.

10. Now it is time to use your pendulum. Clear your mind. Ask the pendulum a yes or no question. Do not guess the answer or put an answer in your mind. Just like tarot cards, the pendulum picks up energy.

11. After the answer is given, it’s important to remember to give thanks for the answer.
