Life’s Challenges

Life’s Challenges

Life can be tough.  There is always a reason to be unhappy or angry.  It is important for us to be in control of our thoughts reactions and emotions. People, places, and things can greatly affect us if we allow them to.  I will share with you some ways I cope with outside noise and influence upon my spirit.  I hope this helps you.

Reading

I use reading as a getaway.  There are times when I allow my head to get so crowded with the energies of other people places and things, I can’t hear my own inner voice.  Reading allows me to take my mind off what is happening in the moment and connect with the material in the book.  It’s a healthy distraction.  I can open a book and get lost for hours.  By the time I reemerge, I have forgotten what the problem is.  When Im reading, I’m not thinking about the challenges of life and I get taken to a place far from my own thoughts.  In my times of high stress I turn to the Bible, Queen Afua’s Sacred Woman, and the esoteric titles.

    Exercise

Exercising is a double prize.  When I’m exercising, yes, I might begin thinking about my challenges, but those thoughts are quickly replaced with a heavy chest and focusing on controlling my breathing.  I get winded quick but I don’t stop. I force myself to keep moving.  I like to run outdoors.  I get to feel the wind on my skin, the birds, and the trees.  The scenery changes and I get to feel the sun shinning.  So while I’m clearing my mind Im also getting a shot of vitamin D, some fresh air, and working out my lungs.  It’s not easy to worry about life while running for me.  Im too busy trying to breathe and keep running.

      Music

There’s nothing like a great upbeat song to shift any mood.  I can be having the worst day and a song I love will put me in a different headspace.  Anger turns into joy and stress turns into me rocking my hips.  No matter who you are, you can find a song to change your mood for the better.  Music is a vibration, and those vibrations penetrate your aura.  They can cause your inner vibrations to rise or fall. So upbeat music is always a go to for me.  The challenges of my life don’t stand a chance when I hear a familiar song with fast beat.

        Prayer

In times of high stress prayer is paramount.  There is something about connecting with a higher power that is higher than thyself, for an energy shift.  For me, to know that God has my best interest and knows what is best for me gives me an unmatchable inner peace.  There have been times when my energy was so low that the only thing I could do was to turn to God.  I didn’t have the energy or convenience to grab a book, exercise, nor listen to music.  That’s when prayer comes in.  I can pray whenever wherever.  It doesn’t require any tools.  Talking to God is the answer to all.  It calms and reassures me that all is well.

          Just Let Go

Sometimes the most critical part of having a challenge is our own mindset.  At times, I will forget that I am the person in control of my emotions and actions.  I am the captain, I am the only person who can flip that switch.  Every time I allow myself to feel any emotion, it is because I allow myself to feel it.  I have to tell myself to just let it go.  Then I have to repeat it.  Just letting things go can be difficult.  To “Just let it go” can be the hardest thing to do in the moment.  We make the decision to laugh,  cry, or be afraid in any moment.  We also make the decision to feel happy, sad, or any other way.

            Conclusion

In life, there is always going to be a challenge, a trigger, or a person place or thing to affect us in some way.  We have tools to help break up that negative energy, and usher in new fresh energies.  Whenever life gets me down I use one of the methods above; I “just let go”, pray, listen to music, exercise, or read.  If you implement one or more of these healthy methods into your life as a go to in high stress times, you will get through the down times with more ease.
